UK ENIC Ecctis Bangladesh Degree Equivalence — The 2025 BNQF Upgrade
UK ENIC Ecctis Bangladesh Degree Equivalence — The 2025 BNQF Upgrade
In 2025, UK ENIC significantly upgraded its assessment of Bangladeshi qualifications following the finalisation of the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF). If you graduated from BUET, RUET, KUET, or CUET with a four-year engineering degree, your qualification is now unambiguously rated as equivalent to a UK Bachelor degree — regardless of when you graduated.
This is the single most important change for Bangladeshi Skilled Worker applicants in years.
What the Upgrade Means
| Bangladeshi Qualification | UK ENIC Rating (2025 onwards) |
|---|---|
| 4-year Bachelor degree | UK Bachelor degree (RQF Level 6) |
| Bachelor in Engineering | UK Bachelor degree (any award date) |
| Bachelor in Medicine | UK Bachelor degree (any award date) |
| 3-year Bachelor degree | UK Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) |
| Master's degree (after 4-year Bachelor) | UK Master's degree |
The critical distinction: A standard three-year Bachelor degree from Bangladesh — common in arts and commerce faculties — is rated as a DipHE, which is below RQF Level 6. This means it does not meet the graduate-level requirement for most Skilled Worker roles. If you hold a three-year degree, you likely need to rely on your Master's degree or demonstrate your role qualifies under an exception.

The University Verification Risk
UK ENIC may contact your university to verify credentials. If the registrar does not respond within 20 working days, the assessment may stall or fail.
Before you submit your application:
- Visit your university's registrar office in person
- Inform them that Ecctis will send a verification email
- Provide the reference number once you have it
- Follow up after ten working days
If your university is chronically unresponsive, the safer strategy is to rely on your IELTS/PTE score for English and submit the Statement of Comparability based on documents you can provide directly.
