VFS Dhaka UK Visa Appointment: Address, Fees, and What to Expect
VFS Dhaka UK Visa Appointment: Address, Fees, and What to Expect
VFS Global is the UK government's commercial partner in Bangladesh for collecting biometrics and receiving visa application documents. Visiting the VFS center is a mandatory step — you cannot complete a UK visa application from Bangladesh without an in-person appointment for biometric data collection.
Here is what you need to know about booking, costs, what to bring, and what happens on the day.
VFS Center Locations in Bangladesh
VFS Dhaka (Main Center) Nafi Tower, 53 Gulshan Avenue, Gulshan-1, 7th Floor Dhaka 1212
VFS Sylhet Merchant Tower, Level 3, East Mira Bazar Sylhet 3100
VFS Chittagong The Peninsula Chittagong, Bulbul Center, 486/B CDA Avenue Chittagong
Most applicants use the Dhaka center. If you live in Sylhet or Chittagong, the satellite centers offer local access — but they carry mandatory additional fees not charged at Dhaka.
How to Book an Appointment
Appointments are booked online through the VFS Global portal for Bangladesh (visa.vfsglobal.com/bgd/en/gbr). You book after completing the online visa application at gov.uk and receiving your application reference number.
Availability fluctuates. During peak seasons — typically January to March and July to September — appointments in Dhaka can fill 2-3 weeks out. Check availability as soon as you have your application reference, not after all your documents are ready.
Fee Structure
Standard Visa Service (Dhaka): No additional VFS fee beyond the visa application fee paid on gov.uk. The VFS appointment itself at the main Dhaka center is included.
Sylhet center additional fee: £76.50 (~BDT 13,150) — mandatory if you apply through Sylhet.
Chittagong center additional fee: £80.00 (~BDT 13,750) — mandatory if you apply through Chittagong.
Priority Visa Service: £500 (~BDT 85,900). Decision in 5 working days rather than the standard 3 weeks (15 working days). Must be purchased before or at your VFS appointment.
Super Priority Service: £1,000 (~BDT 171,900). Decision by the next working day. Availability is inconsistent in Bangladesh — check the VFS portal at the time you book. Do not rely on Super Priority being available when you need it.
Document Scanning at VFS: BDT 1,200 if you do not self-upload your documents online. This service has VFS staff scan your physical documents at the center. Self-uploading through the VFS portal before your appointment is free and gives you more control over file quality and order.

What Happens on the Day
Arrive on time, not early. VFS Dhaka does not allow applicants to enter more than 15 minutes before their appointment time. Plan your journey accordingly given Dhaka traffic.
Bag restrictions: You are permitted one airline cabin-sized bag (55cm x 35cm x 20cm maximum) inside the center. Larger bags must be left outside or in secure storage nearby — there is no VFS bag storage facility.
Security: The center operates airport-style security. Remove items from pockets, do not bring food or unnecessary items.
What happens inside:
- Document check at the reception desk
- Queue for biometrics (fingerprints and digital photograph)
- Document submission or confirmation that online upload is complete
- Receipt of your VFS tracking reference
The entire process typically takes 30-60 minutes, longer during peak periods.
Biometrics: All applicants — including dependants, including children — must attend in person for fingerprints and photograph. Children under 6 are exempt from fingerprinting but not from the appointment.
Documents to Bring
Bring all original documents plus photocopies, even if you have already uploaded everything online. VFS staff may ask to inspect originals. Do not leave originals at home on the assumption that your uploads are sufficient.
A checklist of what to bring for a UK Skilled Worker application:
- Valid passport (original)
- Completed TB certificate (sealed envelope from IOM or approved clinic)
- Police Clearance Certificate
- Bank statements (for maintenance, if required)
- Educational certificates with full attestation chain
- IELTS or PTE certificate, or ECCTIS QLS statement
- Employer offer letter and CoS reference number
- Any other supporting documents (payslips, employment letters)
The "No-Refusal Letter" Myth
A common misconception in Bangladesh is that VFS staff can tell you whether your application will be successful. They cannot. VFS staff handle logistics only — document scanning, biometrics, and appointment management. They have no access to UKVI decision-making systems.
Once your appointment is complete, you will receive email updates on the status of your application and passport. If your application is refused, UKVI sends a refusal letter as a PDF attachment with the decision notification. If you receive a notification that your passport is ready for collection without a refusal attachment, that is generally a positive indicator — but wait for the official communication.
After the Appointment
Processing time for the standard service is approximately 3 weeks (15 working days) from your appointment date. You can track the status online via the VFS portal using your reference number. Your passport is returned to you through the VFS center or by courier if you paid for the courier service.
The Bangladesh to UK Skilled Worker Guide includes the complete VFS appointment checklist, how to self-upload documents correctly before your appointment, and how to interpret the VFS status notifications during the decision period.
