UK Visa Refusal Reasons Bangladesh — Why 35% of Applications Fail

UK Visa Refusal Reasons Bangladesh — Why 35% of Applications Fail

Approximately 35% of Skilled Worker visa applications from Bangladesh are refused. That is more than double the refusal rate for Indian nationals applying through the same route. The gap is not about candidate quality — it reflects the intensity of document scrutiny and genuineness testing that UKVI applies to the Bangladesh corridor.

Understanding the specific refusal patterns helps you address each one before your application reaches a caseworker.

Refusal 1: Document Authenticity Failure

A name mismatch, an unverifiable attestation stamp, a document that appears altered, or a reference letter using identical language to other applications. If deemed intentional, this triggers paragraph 9.7.1 — False Representations — with a 10-year ban from the UK.

How to avoid it: Use only genuine original documents. Complete the full authentication chain (Education Board, UGC, MOE, MOFA). Resolve every name discrepancy with a notarised affidavit before submitting. Never let an agent provide documents on your behalf.

Refusal 2: 28-Day Financial Evidence Gap

The bank statement does not show the required balance for 28 consecutive days, or the statement date falls outside the 31-day window.

How to avoid it: Calculate the window backwards from your application date. Maintain a 15 to 20% buffer above the GBP minimum. Do not touch the money during the 28-day period. Use a UKVI-approved bank — not South East Bank (blacklisted since 2013).

Refusal 3: Genuine Vacancy Test Failure

The caseworker concludes the job was not genuine or was created primarily for immigration. This is the primary battleground for Bangladeshi applications.

Red flags: Career-switching roles, newly created positions at small companies, salary set exactly at the minimum threshold, multiple sponsorships from the same small company.

How to avoid it: Include a detailed cover letter explaining how you found the role, the interview process, and why your background qualifies you. Ensure the job description on the CoS is specific. Research the employer's Companies House filings.

Refusal 4: Credibility Interview Failure

Not every applicant is called, but Bangladeshi applicants in care, healthcare, and technical sectors face interviews more frequently. Coached answers, inability to explain the role, and inconsistencies with the application are the most common triggers.

How to avoid it: Research the employer thoroughly. Understand the role beyond the job title. Practise explaining your career story in your own words. Be honest about how you found the job.

Refusal 5: Misrepresentation — The 10-Year Ban

Deliberately false information — edited documents, artificial bank balances, fake work experience certificates. The ban extends to Canada, Australia, the US, and other countries through shared databases.

The crucial point: The ban applies to you, not to any agent who provided the documents.

The Bangladesh to UK Skilled Worker Guide covers each refusal reason with a specific mitigation strategy, the Credibility Interview preparation framework, and the cover letter template that proactively addresses caseworker concerns.
