How to Find UK Visa Sponsorship Jobs from Bangladesh

How to Find UK Visa Sponsorship Jobs from Bangladesh

The biggest misunderstanding Bangladeshi professionals have about the UK Skilled Worker visa is that finding a sponsor is simply a matter of searching for job listings. It is more specific than that. You need a role from a company that holds an active Sponsor Licence, at a salary that meets both the general threshold and the going rate for the occupation code, and in a position that genuinely exists as a grade RQF Level 6 or above role.

Here is how to find those roles practically, and how to filter out the fraudulent ones.

Start with the Sponsor Register

Before spending time applying anywhere, bookmark the UK Register of Licensed Sponsors. It is publicly available at gov.uk and lists every company that holds an active Tier 2 / Skilled Worker sponsor licence. You can search by company name or location.

Why this matters: when you find a job on Indeed or LinkedIn that mentions "visa sponsorship available," the company may genuinely intend to sponsor but their licence may have lapsed, been revoked, or never existed. Checking the register takes two minutes and eliminates a class of wasted applications.

If a company is not on the register, they cannot legally assign you a Certificate of Sponsorship. No matter how legitimate the role sounds.

Sectors Actively Hiring Bangladeshis in 2026

Information Technology: Software developers, systems analysts, cybersecurity professionals, and data engineers are in consistent demand. UK IT firms — particularly in London, Manchester, Leeds, and Birmingham — actively recruit internationally because domestic supply cannot meet demand. Senior developer roles often command salaries above £49,400, well above the general threshold. BUET graduates are particularly well-regarded in the UK IT sector.

Healthcare and NHS: NHS trusts and care home groups remain the largest volume sponsor category for Bangladeshi applicants. Registered nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and certain allied health roles are consistently on the sponsored roles list. The NHS Jobs portal (jobs.nhs.uk) is the primary platform for this sector.

Engineering: Civil, structural, and mechanical engineers from BUET, RUET, and KUET are recruited into UK consultancy firms and construction groups. Engineering roles typically require skills assessment from a recognized professional body (Engineering Council, ICE, IMechE) in addition to the degree verification.

Accounting and Finance: Chartered Accountants — particularly those with ICAB or ACCA qualifications — are hired into UK financial services and accounting firms. The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) has mutual recognition pathways with ICAB that streamline professional recognition.

Platforms That Work

NHS Jobs (jobs.nhs.uk): The only legitimate platform for NHS recruitment. All NHS trust vacancies are posted here. Filter by location and profession. Every NHS trust on this site holds a sponsor licence.

Indeed UK: Large volume of listings. Use the "visa sponsorship" filter but always cross-check the employer against the Register of Licensed Sponsors. Not all employers who list "sponsorship available" have actually checked their licence status.

LinkedIn: More effective for IT, engineering, and finance roles than for healthcare. Apply directly and message the recruiter or HR contact to confirm the company's current sponsor licence status before investing time in multiple interview rounds.

TotalJobs and Reed: UK-focused job boards with sponsorship filters. Useful as supplementary platforms.

Sector-specific job boards: For engineering (Engcareers), for tech (LinkedIn, JobServe), for finance (eFinancialCareers). These typically have higher-quality listings than general aggregators.

The Interview Process from Bangladesh

The time difference between Bangladesh and the UK is 6 hours (GMT+6 vs GMT). Schedule availability for late afternoon and evening Bangladesh time (which maps to UK business hours). Most initial interviews are video-based via Teams, Zoom, or Google Meet.

For technical roles, expect:

  • One or two video screening interviews
  • A technical assessment (coding tests, case studies, or technical questions)
  • Potentially a final panel interview

For clinical roles, expect clinical competency assessments and references from Bangladeshi employers.

After selection, the employer applies for a Defined CoS through the Home Office Sponsorship Management System. This typically takes 1-2 working days once the employer applies, though complex cases or new licence holders may face additional checks.

Salary Negotiation and the Going Rate

Before accepting an offer, check the going rate for your specific SOC occupation code. The going rate is the minimum salary for your role category, separate from the general £41,700 threshold.

For example:

  • Software developer (SOC 2134): going rate £49,400
  • Registered nurse (SOC 2231): going rate ~£31,300 (H&CW route)
  • Civil engineer (SOC 2121): going rate varies by seniority

If the employer offers below the going rate, the CoS will fail the salary compliance check regardless of what both parties agreed. Check the going rate before negotiating your salary — not after.

What to Do When You Cannot Find a Sponsor

Not every Bangladeshi professional will find sponsorship quickly. The salary requirements have priced out many roles that previously led to sponsorship.

Options if direct applications are not yielding results:

  • Target companies already on the sponsor register that operate in your sector
  • Apply for Graduate Trainee or New Entrant roles that offer the reduced £33,400 threshold if you qualify
  • Consider whether a UK Masters degree could position you for Graduate route switching to Skilled Worker — a route that has proven effective for Bangladeshi IT and engineering graduates

The Bangladesh to UK Skilled Worker Guide includes a sector-by-sector breakdown of which roles are most actively sponsored for Bangladeshi applicants, how to read the sponsor register, and what the CoS assignment process looks like from the employer's side.
