After the ITA: Document Checklist for Bangladeshi Express Entry Applicants

The 60 days after an Express Entry Invitation to Apply is the most time-pressured phase of the entire process. Everything you prepared during the months of waiting now needs to be uploaded in verifiable, officer-ready form — and there is no extension unless IRCC grants one, which is rare and not guaranteed.

Most general guides cover the standard list: language tests, WES ECA, police certificates, medical exam, proof of funds. What they do not cover is what that list actually means when you are applying from Bangladesh — the specific agencies, fees, timelines, and sequences that determine whether you hit the 60-day deadline or miss it.

Day One: What to Do Immediately

The moment your ITA arrives, three things need to happen before anything else.

First, book your medical exam. Panel physicians in Dhaka are in limited supply. Mercury Medical in Gulshan, Green Crescent Health in Baridhara, and the IOM Migration Health clinic in Baridhara are the three main IRCC-approved options. Each charges approximately BDT 8,000 for an applicant over 15. Medical results must be submitted to IRCC by the physician directly, and IRCC needs to receive them before your application is complete. Book the earliest available appointment.

Second, start your police clearance certificate application if you have not already. The Special Branch PCC from Bangladesh takes two to four weeks. If you have lived in Saudi Arabia or the UAE for more than six months since turning 18, those clearances need to begin immediately as well — the Saudi PCC process can take six to twelve weeks from abroad.

Third, verify that your WES ECA is complete and that the result matches what you claimed in your profile. If there is any discrepancy, you need to address it now.

The Core Document List

Language test results. Your IELTS, PTE Core, or French test results must come directly from the testing organization. IRCC does not accept photocopies or PDFs you produce yourself. The test report form is submitted through the IRCC portal using your test reference number, and IRCC verifies directly with the testing body.

Educational Credential Assessment. Your WES ECA report must be complete. The document uploaded must match the credential you claimed in your Express Entry profile. If your WES assessment returned a result lower than what you claimed, you need to update your profile now and understand that your CRS will be recalculated.

Police certificates. You need a PCC from every country where you have lived for six months or more since turning 18. For most Bangladeshi applicants this means at minimum one Bangladesh PCC from the Special Branch. If you have worked in the Gulf, add those countries. The validity clock runs from the date of issue — most certificates are valid for six months, so timing matters. Get the Bangladesh PCC first because it is the fastest, and it serves as the foundation for the timeline.

Medical examination results. The panel physician in Dhaka submits these directly to IRCC's e-Medical system. You do not upload medical results yourself — you complete the exam, the physician enters the results electronically, and IRCC receives them on their end. You will see a confirmation in your IRCC portal once results are received.

Bangladesh is designated as a high-prevalence country for tuberculosis. If your chest X-ray shows any scarring — even from a past and fully treated infection — the physician will order a sputum culture. This adds approximately eight weeks to the medical process. Bring any previous medical records related to TB treatment or clearance to your appointment.

Proof of funds. For Federal Skilled Worker applicants without a Canadian job offer, you must demonstrate settlement funds in liquid form. Fixed Deposit Receipts and savings account balances are the standard formats in Bangladesh. IRCC requires a bank letter on official letterhead listing the account number, opening date, current balance, and six-month average balance. The funds cannot be borrowed and must be in an account under your name. Civil Status Documents

Marriage certificate. If you are married and your spouse is included in your application, you need a valid Bangladeshi marriage certificate. The Nikah Nama from the local mosque or municipality must be certified and translated into English by a recognized translator. The translation must be accompanied by a certification statement from the translator stating their qualifications.

Birth certificates. For dependent children, you need a digital birth registration certificate from the local union parishad or city corporation. These are now issued in a digital format in Bangladesh. If your child's birth registration is only in Bengali, you need a certified English translation.

Passport. Your current Bangladeshi E-Passport or Machine Readable Passport must have at least six months of validity at the time of application. If your passport expires within twelve months, renew it before submitting.

What Officers Pay Attention to in Bangladeshi Files

IRCC officers reviewing Bangladeshi Express Entry applications focus on three areas beyond the standard document list.

Work experience documentation is scrutinized closely. A generic "experience certificate" that lists only your job title and dates is not sufficient. Reference letters must include your job title, the full dates of employment, salary and hours per week, and a detailed description of your actual duties — specific enough to confirm they match the NOC code you claimed. If your current or former employer will not provide this level of detail, a statutory declaration supported by salary slips and bank statements showing regular deposits is the documented alternative.

Proof of funds receives additional scrutiny when large deposits appear close to the application date. If a significant amount was transferred into your account in the weeks before you prepared your bank statement, IRCC will ask about the source. If the funds were gifted by a family member, you need a formal gift deed on non-judicial stamp paper accompanied by the donor's bank statement or proof of the source (such as property sale documents).

Identity document consistency matters throughout. The name on your Bangladeshi NID, your passport, your WES ECA, and your bank statements must be consistent. If there are spelling variations — common with transliteration from Bengali — include a brief note of explanation in your application.

The 60-day window is tight even when everything goes smoothly. Starting police certificates and medical bookings on day one is not cautious — it is the only realistic sequence for Bangladeshi applicants navigating the Special Branch process alongside possible Gulf country clearances.
